Portland (1-0-1)
The Pilots have had to rally from 1-0 deficits in each of their matches, managing a draw with Sacramento State and defeating Syracuse. The Pilots begin the season with eight home matches and don't travel until the last week of September. Benji Michel scored both equalizers for UP.
Pacific (1-1-0)
Apparently the United Soccer Coaches voted before UOP's disastrous trip down the 99. Pacific will spend a week in the #14 slot despite a 3-0 loss at CSU Bakersfield. It was closer than the final score -- Pacific outshot CSUB 16-7, earned more corner kicks and out-possessed the Roadrunners.
"Despite the scoreline, we feel like we made some really significant progress and played a lot better," head coach Ryan Jorden said. "Soccer is funny in a lot of ways. If you hit the post twice and those balls go in, the game is significantly different, the nature of the game changes and you feel significantly different about the outcome."
San Francisco (1-0-1)
The Dons played well enough to defeat CSUN 3-2 on opening night, but were fortunate to earn a draw on Sunday vs. visiting San Diego State, slotted for last place in the Pac-12. Santiago Digiuseppe has two goals for USF.
Saint Mary's (2-0-0)
The Gaels outscored Incarnate Word and Detroit Mercy 8-0 and could only shake their heads as Cal outscored the same two teams 3-1 and earned a #14 ranking in the USC poll. Saint Mary's didn't receive a single vote. Anders Engebretsen scored two goals in each of the first two matches.
