Columns in order:
Adjusted RPI's 2015-17 (conference rating at top),
2018 non-conf. average RPI's and SOS's based on 2017,
2018 pre-season poll rankings
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has been steadily improving over the last few years, with 4 teams breaking into the top 100 RPI last season. Those same four teams are expected to lead the way again in 2018.
Canisius was the coachs' pick to grab the 2018 crown, placing four players on the pre-season all-conference squad. The Griffins test themselves with 6 straight road contests, including a trip to both Big Ten Michigan schools. Another advantage for Canisius is that they get Rider, Fairfield and Quinnipiac at home.
Rider saw its streak of 2 consecutive conference tourney championships snapped last year, but they will be in the hunt again. The Broncs placed a trio of players on the all-conference team -- Emmanuel Kouma and Elliott Otmani in the midfield and Sylvain Coco on the back line. Fairfield ran the table last season and will rely on mostly underclassmen to remain in the mix. The Stags will travel to New Hampshire, St. John's and UNCW and also meet College of Charleston at a neutral site. Quinnipiac has the "even year" thing going, having won the regular season in 2014 and 2016.
