Connecticut (2-0-0)
The Huskies posted home wins over Lehigh and Niagara to jump into the United Soccer Coaches poll, but we'll find out if the Huskies are real on a trip to the Adidas/IU Credit Union Classic in Bloomington, Ind. There UConn will face #24 Notre Dame and #6 Indiana. "I think we're playing pretty well, but it's early. The guys are focused," said head coach Ray Reid. "We have good depth – Nkosi Burgess, Cole Venner, Ibrahima Diop – and both goalkeepers did a good job. Next weekend though we go up a weight class and they need to bring their 'A' game against Notre Dame. We'll have a week of preparation and fly Thursday to Indiana."
Tulsa (1-0-1)
The Golden Hurricane are coming off an impressive opening weekend in the state of Michigan. Tulsa defeated then-#15 Michigan 2-1 on Friday and followed up with a scoreless draw at then-#4 Michigan State. Tulsa leapt into the USC poll at #23, and now has a five-game home stretch vs. UNLV, North Florida, New Mexico, Saint Louis and Drake.
SMU (1-1-0)
The Mustangs were unceremoniously dropped from #8 to "receiving votes" in the latest USC poll, which they can thank Providence for. The Friars came to Dallas and hung a 2-1 (2OT) result on SMU. The Mustangs rebounded to dump Campbell 4-0.
UCF (1-1-0)
Live by the golden goal, die by the golden goal. The Knights posted a big road win at Penn State to open the season, with Ricardo Oliveros heading in a Louis Perez corner in the 102nd minute. UCF returned home and lost to UC Irvine on a break down the right side in the 94th minute. The Knights play their next three games (Liberty, Virginia Tech, West Virginia) at home.
South Florida (0-2-0)
The Bulls are no longer receiving votes in the USC poll after a pair of shutout losses at Michigan State and Michigan. South Florida played the last 48 minutes of the UM game with 10 players after Henrique Gallina's ejection for two yellow cards.
Memphis (1-0-1)
The Tigers are undefeated after a draw at home vs. SIUE and a 2-1 win at Saint Louis in which Peyton McKnatt scored two first-half goals. "Obviously, he was the one to step up tonight. We needed someone to step up," head coach Richard Mulrooney said. "In big games on the road against good teams like Saint Louis, you're going to need guys to step up. It was his night tonight, and hopefully he has more of those in the future."
